This year’s Disability Policy Seminar (DPS) is coinciding with some remarkable anniversaries. In 2015 we are set to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the passage of the Americans with Disabilities Act and the 50th anniversary of Medicaid and Medicare. The passage of this transformative legislation would not have been possible without the hard work of congressional leaders and disability advocates, like you! We can celebrate these monumental achievements, but we can’t stop there.

How will the passage of the ABLE Act affect you? How is the legislation going to be carried out in your state? Attending DPS will help you understand these questions and get the answers. This year’s program is designed to prepare you and give you an accurate sense of what is happening in Congress. Attending DPS will arm you with the important education, housing, and Medicaid/Medicare policy information that you need to take back to your home state and share with your fellow constituents. We want to show Congress that the disability advocacy network is strong and vast. Visit www.disabilitypolicyseminar.org to get full program information and to register.

We need everyone who can to attend DPS so that every congressional district is represented. We have to keep the momentum going and strengthen our relationships with members of congress so that we can work together to advance our public policy agenda. This year’s Disability Policy Seminar is taking place April 13th- 15th, in Washington, D.C., at a new location – Renaissance Washington, D.C. Downtown Hotel. Come and be a part of the solution by registering today! In order to get the most out of hill meetings, you must come to DPS. Each day of DPS features sessions designed to provide you with information that is vital to advocacy and disability rights.

I would like to be an advocate for anyone with special needs child or an adult. I have been through some really unjust situations and was made to believe that I am a non-factor and I am her mom I will not sit back and let the system just take my daughters money period it was awarded to her and I intend for her to live out of it how I see fit not the bank their only true interest is greed.
