Emily A. Donaldson, CELA

Emily has been practicing in the areas of elder law and estate planning for 25 years, is a Certified Elder Law Attorney (CELA) by the National Elder Law Foundation and holds an advanced degree in Estate Planning (LL.M.).

She recently left private practice and joined Arcare, Inc., as its General Counsel, and is an adjunct professor at Washburn University School of Law, for the Elder Law course; and previously taught at the University of Kansas School of Law, Estate Planning Principles and Practice.

Emily also serves as a member of the Probate Law Advisory Committee of the Kansas Judicial Council; as the current co-chair of the Special Needs Planning committee of the Elder Law Group, Real Property Trust and Estate section of the ABA; and is a frequent author and speaker on issues affecting the aged and individuals with disabilities. Most importantly, it has been her greatest honor to serve as caregiver and long-term care planner for four dogs adopted during their mid to golden years – each of which has tried to teach her the true meaning of life. Every once in a while, she listens.
