INTRODUCING MARTHA BROWN, CELA

An active member of the SNA since 2003, Martha Brown, CELA, recently became an Emeritus Member. Martha was a longtime member of the Membership Committee and was instrumental in recruiting members in states where we had no members, such as Oregon and Iowa. We affectionately refer to Martha as the “Membership Queen.” We asked her what she’s been up to since she semi-retired—read her answers below to find out more!

I have been traveling! I just returned from a two-week tour of Peru—a fascinating country with much history. The Inca and its civilization are especially astounding, and Machu Picchu is a once in a lifetime view! In July I will travel the Douro River Valley in Portugal. I am looking forward to it, since I have been to Lisbon and Sintra in Portugal, but have not seen most of the country.

I do not have a typical day but do seem to stay busy.

Traveling to see Angkor Wat in Cambodia; India; and Giraffe Manor in Kenya.

The friendships I made with the SNA members. They are very special to me.

Listen to your client. Your job will be easier if you hear what they are saying.

Take advantage of the various members’ knowledge and expertise. Everyone is always willing to share. Don’t be afraid to ask questions.

A Fish Called Wanda—the movie always makes me laugh out loud.

Among others, I admire Dolly Parton. She is bright, authentic, caring, and a lot of fun!
